Khun Jae Waterfall in Chiang Rai, Thailand

Khun Jae Waterfall at Khun Jae National Park offers two beautiful waterfalls for visitors. One of them is called Khun Jae Waterfall. It is a perfect place for cooling down the heat, admiring a breathtaking view of water stream falling down and listening to those waters colliding with the rocks to cheer you up. Besides, this waterfall is peaceful, private and not crowded with tourists. Khun Jae Waterfall is located within the valley and forest. It is a 6-tiered fall but only 4 levels can be visited. Each tiered is approximately 10-20 meters. If visitors want to admire the flow from the top of the cliff, there is a challenging trekking path provided for them with the distance about 100-200 meters. The water source of this waterfall comes from Mae Chedi creek on Phi Pan Nam Range. The water flows from tropical rain forest and mixed forest to this waterfall. This place is great for picnicking and overnight camping with campfire with the charges of 30 baht each to absorb the natural environment.

In addition, if you love to go on a natural trip, you should park at the national park office then follow the officers to visit many stations such as the fire protection station or tropical rain forest station. Each station offers the close relationship between creatures in ecosystem reflecting the richness of nature which cannot be seen in the city. When you find the trekking path, you find the way to the waterfall which is not far away. Besides, on the way there are local people in the village for asking direction or if you prefer not to walk, you can ride on a motorbike instead.

To visit, if you want to head to the waterfall, take highway 118 from the Mae Kajan market heading to Chiangmai province. When you reach kilometer marker 76, turn right to Wat Luang Ratchamroentham. The road to Wat Luang Ratchamroentham is a solid soil about 600 m. Then turn left to Thung Yao – Pang Phung village which ends at National Park Khun Jae Security Guard Unit 3 at 14 km. Walk for another 200 meters, you will reach the waterfall. But, if you want to visit the park first, do no turn right at km. 76. Just continue straight until you reach km. 55-56, the office is on your right next to the road. Another fastest way is to travel from Chiangmai, take the Chaingmai-Doi Saket- Chiangrai bus from Chiangmai bus station 2 or take a Chiangmai-Wiang Papao-ThaiWong bus terminal yellow minibus.
