Graz City in Austria

Graz city which has been subdivided into the cultural city of Europe combines the classic of the old and the modern 21st century. The city is second largest city in Austria and second only to the capital of Vienna. UNESCO was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1999 and was chosen as the cultural capital of Europe in 2003. Graz is the capital city of the southern Austrian province of Styria. At its heart is Hauptplatz the medieval old town’s main square. A funicular leads up Schlossberg, the town hill, to the Uhrturm, a centuries old clock tower. Across the River Mur, futuristic Kunsthaus Graz exhibits contemporary art.
