Nakamachi Street in Nagano, Japan

Nakamachi Road is a shopping district that has existed since ancient times. Many buildings still preserve the building to maintain its original condition. On both sides of the road are ancient warehouses called “Kura”. The black and white diamond-shaped walls are lined up along the route. There are many underground fountains, cafes, Soba restaurants, restaurants and handmade shops. Visitors can buy Japanese crafts such as earthenware, Japanese lacquer ware and wooden crafts from here.

The symbol of Nakamachi Road is Kurasik-kan, an old building that was built to serve as a sake storage warehouse in the Meiji period. Now it is used as a place for displaying folk art and there is space for renting for various activities. It is a place that should not be missed when visiting Nakamachi Road.
